The Rivers State House of Assembly has commended Kekwaru Ngozi Mary and two other indigenes who have made the state proud.
Recall that Ngozi Kekwaru discovered the of sum of seventy thousands dollars left behind by a guest in Eko hotels and immediately reported the lost money and ensured it was returned to its rightful owner.
The other indigenes to be commended by the tenth Rivers Assembly are Rena Wakama who made history as the first female coach of D’tigress to win the 2023 Afrobasket championship in Kigali Rwanda since it began in 1966 while Pallas Kunaiyi Akanah was an outstanding player in the team.
Their commendation followed a motion to commend three female indigenes of Rivers State for distinguishing themselves in their professional calling presented by the Deputy Leader Linda Somiari Stewart.
The Assembly also resolved that a letter of commendation with it’s seal would issued to them.
Presenting the motion yesterday on the floor of the house Linda Somiari Stewart, who is the lawmaker representing Okrika constituency said Rena Wakama, Pallas Kunaiyi Akanah and Ngozi Mary Kekwaru are trending in every pieces of news in the country because of their exploits and outstanding conducts.
According her, the self discipline,, selflessness, uprightness and Public spiritedness of the three young girls have put the state on a global map.
The deputy leader described the girls as worthy ambassadors of the State and beckons of hope for upcoming generation.
She however prayed the house to among other things commend the young ladies and urge the young ones to emulate their feat.
Commencing debate on the motion , leader Edison Ehie said the three young girls should be commended for their selfless services so as to encourage them for greater services
Edison Ehie who also commended the deputy leader for a well thought out motion called on the state to reward them with state honours
Other lawmakers in their various contributions agreed that there is need for the tenth Assembly to commend the three girls.
Queen Owhonda of Ahoada East constituency one, Justina Emeji of Emuoha, Barile Nwakor of Khana two, Ezekwe Nkemjika of ONELGA two and Peter Abbey of Degema constituency all commended the activities of the girls stating that they have brought positive recognition not only to the State but the country at large.
Speaker Martin Amaewhule in his submission at the end of debate on the motion said the three individual are would be commended to show the that the tenth Assembly is happy with their achievement.
Assembly correspondent Ijeoma Tubosia reports that the Speaker Martin Amaewhule donated his August salary to the three young girls as a way of encouraging them to do more.
