The discovery of the decomposing bodies of a man, his wife and four children in their apartment left a Rumuosi community in River State in mourning. Although an autopsy is yet to be conducted, preliminary investigation indicated that the family died from suffocation caused by generator fumes.
Daily Sun were informed by the neighbours that the family members were last seen on the 30th of June, 2017, they became curious when the foul odour emerging from the victims’ house became intolerable. A report was lodged at Choba Police Station; some policemen were dispatched to force open the door of the apartment, only to find the family of six dead.

According to reports, the victims were found lying on the floor of the sitting room with the television on. Neighbours also said there was a power outage the night the family was last seen, they were using the electricity generator.
Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, has confirmed the incident.
