The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Tonye Briggs Oniyide, has presented the 2025 appropriation bill of twelve billion, seven hundred and thirty-two million, five hundred and fifty-three thousand, three hundred and forty-eight naira, twenty kobo (₦12,732,553,348.20) to the 10th Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly.
The Budget, tagged “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development” is targetted towards putting the LGA on the path of greatness,.
A breakdown of the estimate indicates that the sum of seven billion, seven hundred and fifty-five million, eight hundred and six thousand, three hundred and ninety-eight naira (₦7,755,806,398.00) is for recurrent expenditure.
Four billion, eight hundred and fifty-nine million, four hundred and twenty-one thousand, four hundred and sixteen naira, fifty-two kobo (₦4,849,421,416.52) is directed towards capital expenditure.
In her budget presentation, the Chairman said twelve billion, six hundred and thirty million, three thousand, three hundred and forty-eight naira, twenty kobo (₦12,732,553,348.20) is envisaged from the federal allocation, while one hundred and two million, five hundred and fifty thousand naira (₦102,550,000.00) is expected from other sources.
“Honorable members, while we continue to serve our responsibilities in the LGA, electricity, security, and the safety of our environment shall remain our priority”, she said
“In 2025, the Council has made provisions for the hosting of the Akuku-Toru festival (AKUFEST) and other ceremonies that will keep our people happy and relaxed throughout the year.”
Sports, Education, infrastructural development, she said, is also targeted, insisting that “my administration will welcome every effort that is directed towards helping Akuku-Toru LGA grow in leaps and bounds.”
The Chairman appealed for a strong working relationship with the legislative arm to enable the administration achieve its set goals in the areas of human capital development, infrastructure, school, and healthcare delivery systems.
“Mr. Leader and Honorable members of this Assembly, the expectations of the people of Akuku-Toru are enormous. We need to work together to deliver on the mandate the people have given to this administration. I urge you not to relent.”
In his response, the Leader of the 10th Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Asheal Solomon Jack, praised the Chairman, and her team for a job well done and sought her continuous support. He pledged the resolve of the lawmakers to give her the needed support and promised speedy consideration of the budget.
The Executive Chairman was accompanied by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Odimabo Torukwein JP; the Secretary of the Council, Mrs. Fyneface Itiekemeba, the Chief of Staff, Godson Owunari Briggs; the Director of Budget, Mr. Diepriye Gabriel; the Head of Local Government Administration and other management staff of the Council.
