FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to Receive ‘Nigeria Infrastructure Minister of the Year’ Award

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, will be honoured with the ‘Nigeria Infrastructure Minister of the Year’ award by FCT indigenes for his contributions to developing outer districts and satellite towns in Abuja.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at Jummai Aduda Townhall, Karu District, according to Peter Samuel Aye, Secretary-General of the Karu Gbagyi Development Association (KAGBADA).

Aye noted that FCT residents have not seen infrastructure development on the scale achieved under Wike and President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The event will include a public lecture on the 2026 FCT elections by former Nigerian Ambassador to Gambia, Ayuba Jacob Ngbako, alongside scholarship awards and empowerment initiatives for Karu Chiefdom residents.

Key projects cited for the award include:

• Rehabilitation of Nyanya–Karu–Jikwoyi–Karshi Highway

• Completion of Kugbo Bus Terminal and Kugbo International Market

• Reconstruction of roads within Karu township

• Karu Water Supply Project (Lot 2), spanning 194km of pipelines providing potable water

KAGBADA also commended Wike for positive relations with Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, supporting the appointment of their son-in-law, Architect Richard Dauda, as FCDA Executive Secretary, and for reassignment of the troubled Apo–Karshi Road contract to a competent firm.

The association appealed to Wike to address the ongoing exclusion of FCT indigenes from federal appointments, including diplomatic postings and positions at the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), while pledging continued support for the FCT Administration.
