Governor Yusuf Empowers 5,200 Women with ₦50,000 Each in Kano
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has disbursed ₦50,000 each to 5,200 women across the state as part of his administration’s monthly Women Empowerment Programme aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting self-reliance.
The initiative, held on Tuesday at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, was announced in a statement by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to empowering women in genuine need, noting that a new computerized system has been introduced to ensure transparency and prevent past errors in beneficiary selection.
According to him, women from all 44 local government areas benefited — with 200 women each from the eight metropolitan councils and 100 each from the remaining rural councils.
He personally presented cash support to 20 women representatives from the local councils, urging beneficiaries to use the funds productively to support their families and businesses.
The Governor also commended local government chairmen for their cooperation and called for prompt and transparent disbursement of the empowerment funds.
In her remarks, ALGON Chairperson, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yushau Soja, thanked the Governor for prioritizing women and pledged continued support for his empowerment initiatives.
