India takes over BRICS chairmanship for 2026

India has officially assumed the chairmanship of BRICS for 2026, marking a significant moment in the bloc’s leadership rotation.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar unveiled the BRICS India 2026 logo, theme and official website, formally signalling the start of India’s leadership from January 1.

Jaishankar said India’s approach as chair would be humanity-first and people-centric, with a strong focus on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability, as it prepares to guide key discussions on global cooperation, development and multipolar diplomacy.

India’s chairmanship is expected to shape BRICS priorities amid evolving global economic and geopolitical challenges.
