“NO TIME TO WASTE”: GOV FUBARA DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RESULTS FROM NEW ADVISERS
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged newly appointed Special Advisers to key into the vision of his administration and work collectively towards delivering effective governance to the people of the state.
Governor Fubara spoke on Friday at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, shortly after the advisers were sworn in and administered the oath of office.
Those appointed as Special Advisers include Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, Professor Peter Medee, Barrister Emmanuel Frank Fubara, Hon. Victor Ekaro, and Dr. Darlington Oji.
Governor Fubara said the decision to bring in the advisers was part of efforts to accelerate government activities and recover lost momentum in the state’s development drive.
He explained that the appointees were carefully selected because of their capacity to add value and ensure continuity in governance.
The governor noted that the advisers were familiar faces who had previously worked with him, adding that they understood the philosophy and direction of the present administration.
“So what we’re doing this morning or this afternoon is bringing in some persons on board to ensure that the wheels of governance continue to roll smoothly in our state.
“I believe that these appointees are not new faces. They’ve been with us, they’ve worked with us. They understand the philosophy of this administration and it will not be a problem following and ensuring that our goals are achieved.”
Governor Fubara cautioned them against complacency, stressing that their appointments were not ceremonial but a call to serious work and greater productivity.
He congratulated the appointees for being considered worthy among the many qualified Rivers citizens, describing the appointments as an opportunity to serve.
“So my charge is not much because you already know what we have come to do. It is not pleasure, it is work. And everyone here that has been assigned some responsibility in the past have always proven yourself. I’m very sure that this time around it won’t be different.
“It’s a real opportunity. Don’t let us down. We will start to work for Rivers People. Our agreement, our social agreement with Rivers People is to work. And that work, it is what we have come to do.”
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its social contract with Rivers people through purposeful leadership and effective service delivery.
