The people of Cape Coast yesterday celebrated the 61st Oguaa Fetu Afahye Festival in a landmark display of culture, heritage, unity, and innovation.
The event was graced by the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, and Her Majesty Olori Atuwatse III, who joined His Majesty Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Paramount Ruler of Cape Coast, and Her Majesty Nana Ekua Abookyi VI, the Paramount Queen Mother. Their presence underscored the enduring spirit of Oguaa rooted in tradition and hospitality.
The festival, filled with pageantry, music, and dance, reaffirmed Cape Coast as a city of firsts and a hub of resilience, creativity, and cultural pride. This year’s theme, Innovate to Elevate, highlighted the synergy between tradition and modernity—showing that culture, far from being a relic, is a living force that strengthens economies, deepens partnerships, and unites nations.
In their goodwill message, the visiting royalties wished the Oguaa people a joyous celebration filled with love, laughter, and a deep connection to their heritage, as the festival honored the past, celebrated the present, and inspired a brighter tomorrow.
