PIND Foundation, Okomu Oil Sign ₦1.2bn Deal To Boost Peace, Livelihoods, And Sustainability In Edo

The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) has signed a ₦1.2 billion partnership agreement with Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc to promote peace, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive development across host communities in Edo State.

In a statement released on Monday, PIND described the agreement as a landmark collaboration aimed at deepening peacebuilding, improving market systems, expanding access to finance, and promoting renewable energy and youth skills development.

The initiative builds on a three-year MoU signed in 2024 and is reinforced by a new project-specific deal for 2026, targeting development gaps identified through a joint community needs assessment.

Under the 2026 CSR programme, PIND said it will strengthen community dialogue platforms, train peace monitors, and establish early warning systems to prevent conflicts. Additionally, about 3,000 smallholder farmers will benefit from improved agricultural practices and better market access.

PIND’s Executive Director, Mr. Sam Ogbemi Daibo, said the partnership underscores the power of collaboration between the private sector and development organisations.

“This partnership embodies what we call development through shared value. Together with Okomu, we are building peace, capacity, and self-reliance — the real foundations of resilience,” he stated.

A joint steering committee made up of representatives from PIND and Okomu Oil will oversee the project to ensure transparency, accountability, and gender inclusion.

PIND added that the ₦1.2bn pact sets a new benchmark for responsible corporate citizenship, proving that shared prosperity and social stability can thrive through meaningful private sector investment.

Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading agribusiness firms, recorded a ₦60.33bn profit after tax in the first nine months of 2025 — a 113% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
