….NPA Introduces Electronic Barrier System at Lagos Port Terminals

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the successful installation of Electronic Barrier Systems (EBS) at Lagos port terminals to boost efficiency and improve traffic management.
NPA Managing Director, Abubakar Dantsoho, disclosed this in a statement issued by the General Manager of Corporate Communication and Strategy, Okechukwu Onyemekara, on Thursday in Lagos.
He explained that the innovation followed extensive consultations with stakeholders to address the problem of unauthorised truck diversions, which had disrupted terminal operations, traffic flow, and overall port productivity.
According to him, the EBS has been fully integrated with the Eto Electronic Call-Up System, managed by Trucks Transit Parks Ltd. (TTP), ensuring that only trucks with valid Eto-issued call-up tickets gain access to terminal facilities.
“As of September 1, all terminals within the Lagos Port Complex will commence full live operations using the Integrated Electronic Barrier System,” Mr Dantsoho said, describing the development as a milestone in the NPA’s drive for automation and modernisation of Nigeria’s port infrastructure.
He reaffirmed NPA’s commitment to supporting the federal government’s ease of doing business agenda while promoting transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
The NPA, he added, would continue deploying innovative solutions to strengthen Nigeria’s position as Africa’s hub for maritime logistics and sustainable port services.
