Traditional Rulers Endorse Charles Orie for Imo Governorship at Owerri Town Hall Meeting
Traditional rulers from Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas on Sunday, December 21, 2025, unanimously endorsed Honourable Chief Charles Orie for the 2027 Imo State governorship during a town hall meeting held at Rockview Hotel, Owerri.
The monarchs, who described the gathering as a moment of unity and shared heritage, offered prayers for Chief Orie, seeking divine wisdom, strength, and long life for him. The meeting also featured strong calls from political stakeholders and associates of Orie for an end to what they described as decades-long marginalisation of the oil- and gas-producing Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta axis.
The traditional rulers lamented the absence of significant state government projects in their communities since 1999, noting that most visible interventions had come from the NDDC, ISOPADEC, and oil companies rather than successive Imo State administrations.
In his response, Chief Orie paid tribute to Governor Hope Uzodimma, describing him as a political leader, mentor, and elder brother, while acknowledging his guidance and influence on his political journey.
