VP Shettima Returns After UNGA 80, Germany Mission

Vice President Kashim Shettima is back in Nigeria after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and concluding high-level engagements in Germany.

At UNGA, Shettima delivered President Tinubu’s national statement, calling for comprehensive UN reforms and advocating Africa’s sovereignty over its $700 billion mineral resources. He also advanced strategic partnerships with the United Kingdom, the Gates Foundation, and other global stakeholders.

The Vice President met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who commended Nigeria’s bid for a permanent UN Security Council seat. In another session, Shettima showcased Nigeria’s $200 billion energy transition potential to international investors.

Before departing New York, he assured the Nigerian diaspora community of closer engagement in the Tinubu administration’s programmes and policies, before proceeding to Germany for further diplomatic and economic discussions.
