FG Centralises Passport Production For The First Time In 62 Years

The Federal Government has officially ended passport production at multiple centres across the country, introducing a centralised system for the first time in 62 years.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this known on Thursday during an inspection of Nigeria’s new Centralised Passport Personalisation Centre at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Headquarters in Abuja.

He explained that since the establishment of the NIS in 1963, passport production had never been centralised. According to him, the reform marks a historic milestone that will boost efficiency and productivity in service delivery.

“The project is 100 per cent ready. Nigeria can now be more productive and efficient in delivering passport services,” Tunji-Ojo assured.
