This policy explains what information EveafriqueNews (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit eveafrique.com, how we use it and the choices you have. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Information we collect

When you read the site. Like most websites, our server records the address of the device you use, your browser type, the pages you visit and the time of each visit. We use these records to keep the site running and secure.

When you contact us. If you send us a message through the contact or advertising forms, we receive your name, your email address, any phone number or company name you give us, and your message.

When you comment. Comments show the name you enter. We also keep your email address, which is never published, and the address of the device you posted from, so that we can deal with spam and abuse.

Cookies and advertising

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Our own site uses only the cookies it needs to work, for example to remember your details in the comment form when you ask it to.

We show advertisements, including ads served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this website or to other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in Google’s Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

How we use your information

  • to reply to your messages and advertising enquiries;
  • to publish and moderate comments;
  • to protect the site against spam, fraud and attacks;
  • to understand which stories our readers find useful.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the companies that help us run the site, such as our web host and our email provider, with advertising partners as described above, or where the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request, and comment details for as long as the comment stays published. Server records are deleted on a rolling basis.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to the way we use it. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

This site is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
