The Honourary Senior Special Adviser to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Mr Nkereuwem Onung has praised the governor, Pastor Umo Eno for his visionary leadership in promoting the state’s cultural heritage and tourism.
The eulogy was delivered in a goodwill message as Akwa Ibom celebrates its 37th anniversary on 23rd September 2024. According to the governor’s adviser,the ARISE Agenda has been instrumental in unlocking Akwa Ibom’s tourism potential,developing infrastructure, reviving cultural heritage, promoting eco-tourism, preserving historical sites, and engaging local communities.
Akwa Ibom’s tourism industry has experienced significant growth, with the state boasting of stunning natural attractions. The state’s cultural festivals, traditional dances, and cuisine also contribute to its unique tourism experience, he added.
As Akwa Ibom marks 37 years of existence, Onung’s commendation highlights the governor’s efforts in positioning the state as a prime tourism destination in Nigeria.He said the ARISE Park Tourism Project is a notable example of the governor’s commitment to showcasing Akwa Ibom’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.
Mr Nkereuwem,who doubles as the President of Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) and Chairman of REMLORDS Travels & Tours expressed his gratitude to be part of the governor’s team and acknowledged the positive impact of the ARISE Agenda on the state’s development.
