The Paramount Ruler and Head of Edi Group of Houses and it’s Satellite Communities Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari received a group of European Tourists who has been touring different parts of the Nation in his Country Home at Obuama in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Alabo Edi-Abali who is fondly called The GrandMaster of Kalabari history in company of member of the Obuama Council of Chiefs welcomed the tourists into his home amidst some cultural display.
The curiosity of the tourists from several countries in Europe that were traveling as a group were satisfied as Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari effortlessly answered their questions and also educated them on the relationship between Europe and Kalabari Kingdom which dates far back to 1410 when the Portuguese having ran out of supplies decided to go ashore and landed at Elem-Ifoko which they call Fouche (First Town).
He presented them with many artifacts of antiquity that were handed down to him by his forebears who occupied the Edi-Abali Traditional Stool.
The tourists were amazed sighting the artifacts ranging from household implements, decoration, war crafts as well as costumes which were over hundreds of years old.
As a ground patron of the Kalabari Cultural and History Preservation Society, he said that about eighty one (81) scholars has been commissioned by the society to work for the preservation of Kalabari culture and history and for this cause, they will embark on a tour to Europe in furtherance of their task for the general good of Kalabari Kingdom and it’s People.
