~~~Charges Them to Work for Khana’s Development
Ambassador Marvin Yobana, the Caretaker Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, officially sworn in other committee members during a ceremony on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Khana Local Government in Bori.
While addressing the newly inaugurated members, Chairman Yobana urged them to work tirelessly for the development of Khana Local Government Area in accordance with the development blueprint of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, whom he declared the State’s leader.
He emphasised the value of collaboration, effort, and accountability in achieving the desired progress and growth in local government. The Chairman also encouraged committee members to connect with the community, listen to their concerns, and work together to address the area’s difficulties.
“According to Marvin Yobana, ‘This is the first time people are being compensated for supporting a candidate without consulting a godfather to make nominations.'” This statement reflects a dramatic transition in the political scene, in which individuals are respected for their support and opinions rather than relying on powerful middlemen.
Marvin Yobana, also stated that the Governor has directed that the activities of Khana Local Government Council be audited for the past three years. This move according to him is aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in government dealings.
The newly sworn-in committee members, Chief. Charity Deemua , Comrade Legborsi Yamaabana, Effort Ndeesor, Joseph Akpasa, Constance Nwifa and Jumbo Neenaenee all pledged to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them and contribute meaningfully to the development of Khana Local Government Area.
Responding on behalf of the caretaker members, Chief. Charity Deemua, thank Ambassador Marvin Yobana for his purposeful leadership and pledge that other members are ready to work with his visions and mission to transform Khana local government area.
Comrade Clifford Paul, the Head of Local Government Administration, in his welcome remark pledged to work closely with Marvin Yobana, the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman of Khana Local Government Area. “We are confident that Chairman Yobana will bring fresh ideas and energy to the table, and we are eager to support him in his efforts to develop our local government area,”.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and political stakeholders like Hon. Victor Kii, Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture, Hon. Sydney Gbara, Commissioner of Environment, RT. Hon. Barieenee Deeyah, Special Adviser on Special Projects, Hon. Gregory Nwiedam, former chairman of Khana local government area, and other former caretaker chairmen, former commissioners and non-governmental organisations from across the local government area.
