Argungu Fishing Festival: Pre-Event Activities Commence in Abuja

Pre-event activities for the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival have officially commenced in Abuja with the launch of a national sensitisation programme.

The opening activities featured cultural dances, speeches, press briefings, and displays highlighting the festival’s planned motor rally, with cultural troupes from Kebbi State and other participating states in attendance.

The event drew key dignitaries, including Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar, members of the state government, ministers, diplomats, traditional rulers, and other invited guests.

Speaking to journalists, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, said the pre-event programme is a tradition aimed at building nationwide awareness ahead of the main festival.

He added that stakeholder engagements will continue across the country in the build-up to the main event scheduled to begin on February 11, 2026.
