Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT) Charters Prototype Eco-Friendly Newbuild Vessel, AKTORAS, (HullNo. 8140).

Bonny Gas Transport Limited (BGT), a subsidiary of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), has chartered a newbuild vessel, AKTORAS to diversify and reduce the carbon footprint of its shipping portfolio.

AKTORAS, owned by Capital Gas Limited, is an innovative prototype, equipped with MEGA propulsion systems, with a 174,000 m3 capacity class LNG carrier, a length of 299.6 metres, breadth (moulded) of 46.40 metres and deadweight of 81,194 tons, symbolising a pivotal addition to BGT’s fleet, leased under a Bareboat Charter arrangement.

During the ceremonial ship naming event at the Hyundai Heavy Industries, Shipyard, South Korea, Mrs. Olu Arowolo Verheijen, Special Adviser to Nigerian President on Energy, christened the vessel as the Sponsor Lady and Godmother.

The event was graced by Ambassador Ferdinard Nwonye, the Nigerian Ambassador to South Korea; Dr. Philip Mshelbila, BGT’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, NLNG; Mr. Olakunle Osobu, Deputy Managing Director, NLNG; and Mr. Abdul-Kadir K. AHMED, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML).

Others at the event were Mr. Andy Odeh, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, NLNG; Mr. Ufuoma Otomewo, General Manager, Commercial, NLNG; Jerry Kalogiratos, Chief Executive Officer of Capital Gas Ship Management Corp., among others.

AKTORAS will be managed by NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML).
