His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, is in support of Nigerians getting their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to vote out hunger in the 2023 election.
To commemorate 2022 Democracy Day, a Thanksgiving Ceremony was held at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa.
Governor Diri also urged youth to shun violence and resist the attempt to recruit them as political thugs.
The Ceremony was well attended by the wife of the governor, Hon. Justice (Mrs.) Patience Ama Diri, Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Senator George Sekibo from Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker of the State Assembly and other top government functionaries.
The Governor said, “To us, God loves this country, and it’s not a mistake for the democracy day this year to be on a Sunday and that is a sign to me that God again, will deliver this country from hunger, poverty, disease and insecurity as we are witnessing from the current APC leadership”
“So Nigerians should be ready with their PVCs to free themselves from the current leadership that has visited this country with hunger, hatred rather than of love, with dwindling economic benefits, with our valueless currency and above all, the unwanton destruction of lives and properties”
And the only people who have solution to it, are the people of this country; and am calling on them to rise up, wherever they are, whoever that is yet to acquire his PVC should do so.
“Your PVC is everything that you need to free yourselves from the current bondage and free Nigeria from becoming a failed State.”
The Governor who noted that he seeks a Nigeria that is fair, just and equitable in the distribution of resources, appreciated leaders and entire people of Bayelsa State for their support to the various policies and programmes of his government.
