FAREWELL TO LATE PA MOSES EGENASHI EKPECHAM

Late Pa Moses Egenashi Ekpecham was born into the family of Johnson and Bessie Ekpecham on the 7th of August 1937. Late Mr Moses Ekpecham lost his father at a tender age and that prompted his mother to relocate with him to Owerri. There, he attended St. Micheal’s Primary School and Government Secondary School, surmounting adversities and surviving the challenging times of the civil war.

In 1958, Late Pa Moses commenced a distinguished career with Shell BP, later SPDC . Mr. Moses started as a drilling supervisor, and then was later promoted to Head of Shipping. His professional journey ended with his retirement from Shell Petroleum Development Commission (SPDC) in 1993. After his retirement, he served as a consultant to the West African Offshore Services (WAOS), an oil servicing company.

Late Pa Moses Ekpecham’s life journey unfolds as a testament to resilience and notable achievements.
He was a man of character and dispassionate rectitude. Late Mr Moses until his demise was happily married to his beloved wife Madam Clare. They got married on the 18th of December 1965, and their marriage was blessed with six (6) children.

His compassionate nature became a cherished heirloom passed on to his children. He lived a good life with open arms, embracing all who came his way. Deeply devoted to God, Late Mr. Moses radiated love and joy to those around him. His charismatic and caring demeanor left an indelible mark on everyone, young and old.

Celebrating his 86th birthday on the 7th of August, 2023, late Mr. Moses reveled in joy and song on Karaoke. Unfortunately, he fell ill on the 13th of September, 2023, experienced a heart attack on the 16th day of same month and year around 9pm. And by 7:10am on the 19th of September, 2023, he peacefully passed away.

On the 8th of December 2023, his family, friends, government officials, members of Port Harcourt City One Love Family and esteemed guests gathered to bid a final farewell to the late Mr. Moses Egenashi Ekpecham; a man whose impact and legacy will forever be remembered. The funeral was a poignant celebration of his remarkable life, marked by the presence of distinguished individuals, including government officials: His Excellency Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate; Dr Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State; Former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; Distinguished Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi; Barr Olumide Akpata; Ex president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Charles Ahize; Rt. Hon Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, amongst other notable personalities.

It was a testament to the profound impact that Mr. Ekpecham had on the lives of those around him, as well as the broader community.

Moses Egenashi Ekpecham was a man of great integrity, unwavering commitment, and a compassionate heart. Throughout his life, he exemplified the values of service, leadership, and philanthropy, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of many. His passing was deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his funeral served as a fitting tribute to a life well-lived.
