Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority Launches Digitalization and Automation Process

The Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA) today took a significant step toward modernizing its operations by launching a comprehensive digitalization and automation process. This initiative includes the introduction of a new web portal designed to streamline business processes, reduce the reliance on paper files, and facilitate easier information sharing.

Speaking at the launch, TPL (Dr.) Tonte Davies FNITP, the Administrator of GPHCDA, expressed gratitude to the governor for his prompt approval of the digitalization initiative. He highlighted the critical task ahead in delivering efficient services, reducing land grabbing, and curbing fraud within the Greater Port Harcourt City. Dr. Davies underscored the necessity of digitalization to meet these challenges and enhance service delivery in the new city.

Mr. Ibifuro Asawo, CEO of Cinfores Limited, provided an overview of the web portal’s functionality, explaining the streamlined process for obtaining approvals, purchasing land, and tracking the progress of various transactions. Representing the governor of Rivers State the Hon. Commissioner for Housing, Basoene Benibo, applauded the GPHCDA management for their innovative approach to improving the ease of doing business in the Greater Port Harcourt City. He stressed the importance of digitalization in reducing manual operations, enhancing service delivery and productivity, and ensuring that information is readily accessible in real-time.

The governor also encouraged the GPHCDA management to continue seeking ways to improve and ensure that services are delivered optimally and efficiently.

The event was attended by several key figures, including Prof. Silver Charles, CEO/President of Garden City Premier Business School; Barr. Ben Chu, Acting Secretary of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority; Mr. Ibifuro Asawo, CEO of Cinfores Limited; Arc Toku Fiberesima Chairman, Architects Association of Rivers State, heads of departments from the eight Local Government Areas; and various development partners. Dr. Davies concluded the event by thanking the governor for his unwavering commitment to developing Port Harcourt City and the surrounding Local Government Areas.
