In celebration of the illustrious career and life of Arc. Uwasa Gerry Ikputu, we honour a
woman whose dedication, expertise, and leadership have significantly impacted the field
of architecture and beyond.
Born on June 12, 1974, into the family of Late Chief Morgan Victor Ogiri and Mrs. Helen
Morgan Ogiri as the fourth child among eight children, Arc. Uwasa Gerry Ikputu began
her journey of excellence early, demonstrating leadership as the Senior Prefect at
Government Girls Secondary School, Ahoada.
She pursued her passion for architecture at
the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University),
earning her Bachelor’s degree in 1997 and a Master’s degree in 2001.
Her professional journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment and exceptional
skills.
In 2002, she co-founded the Cubic Construction Company with two of her dear
colleagues Arc. Christopher Poromon and Arc Otonbara Spiff, establishing a foundation
for innovative architectural practices.
Her tenure with Shell Petroleum Development
Company from 2007 to 2013 as a Senior Quality Control Inspector highlighted her
meticulous attention to quality and her ability to lead high-stakes projects.
Arc. Ikputu’s impact further extended to her role as Project Supervisor Architect at the
Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, where she headed the Design Unit
from 2013 to 2021.
Currently, she continues to make significant contributions as a Manager
in the PMS Department of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Her professional affiliations reflect her dedication to excellence and integrity in her field.
She is a proud member of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (MNIA), Architects
Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Female Architects of Nigeria (FAN), the
Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), she also completed a certificate course
in Valuation of Transport Infrastructure from the University College of Estate Management
in the United Kingdom, she is also a life member of The Full Gospel Businessmen’s
Fellowship.
Arc. Uwasa Gerry Ikputu’s personal life is as inspiring as her professional one. She is
happily married to ESV. Gerry Ikputu whom she fondly calls her forever choice and honey
bunch, a foremost Estate Surveyor & Valuer, and together they are blessed with three
wonderful children, Adiel, Ivan, and Ivanna, after thirteen years of faithful waiting in their
over twenty one (21) years of marital union and bliss.
Today, we celebrate not just her birthday but her remarkable journey and the profound
impact she has made in her field and in the lives of those around her. Her passion for
excellence, her love for God Almighty, her dedication to her craft, and her commitment to
integrity and quality serves as an inspiration to us all.
