A member House of Rep. Hon. Kelechi Nwogu, Representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency presented a motion to halt the CBNs directive on the addition of social media handles on “know your customer” requirements.
In a statement via his social media pages he said ” The essence of this motion is to protect the old and rural dwellers and the uneducated from exclusion and punishment of the CBNs directive. ”
” The policy may be targeted at the criminal element, but in the end, it’s the poor masses that suffer it the most. He added. ”
He rhetorically asked ” I wonder why the CBN policies are always targeted at the poor masses and the uneducated. ”
He also said ” At this point, we need to plead to the CBN to let the poor breathe and not suffocate them further. “
