Ibitein Awo Ogbo of Nigeria Honors Alabo Boma Iyaye for Meritorious Service

The Ibitein Awo Ogbo of Nigeria, a socio-cultural group of astute Rivers sons of Okrika descent, recently honored one of its esteemed members, Alabo (Hon.) Boma Iyaye, ESQ., Fifika-Chiri The 5th. The event, which took place at the Florence Court A.D. 2021, Egelebie, in Okrika LGA of Rivers State, Nigeria, recognized Chief Iyaye’s meritorious service to Nigeria and the Niger Delta.

The ceremony was attended by prominent sons and daughters of the Niger Delta, including H.E. Ambassador Maureen Tamuno, Ph.D., who praised Chief Iyaye as the “Pride of the Niger Delta.” Ambassador Idaere-gogo Ogan, President of Ogbo, also commended Chief Iyaye for his outstanding contributions to the association.

Chief Iyaye is a distinguished personality with a remarkable track record of service. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). He has also held various positions, including two-time Commissioner of Sports and Honorable Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area.

The Ibitein Awo Ogbo of Nigeria is a 32-year-old association comprising captains of industry and members of corporate Port Harcourt. The group aims to promote the socio-cultural heritage of the Okrika people and contribute to the development of the Niger Delta region.
