Maritime Body marks World Ocean Day 2022

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) the global regulatory body for international shipping celebrate world Ocean day yesterday 8 June.

In remarking the UN World Ocean Day 2022, Energy and Maritime Reporters (EMR) and Partners organized an event yesterday themed ‘Revitalization And Collective Action for the Ocean’

The event which took place at Ernest Ikoli press centre port Harcourt had chief Sir, Ernest Chinwo Chairman, Stanley Job Stanley Chief host.

Meanwhile, a special quest speaker Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji, the CEO of Elschon Nigeria Limited called for the need to protect the World Ocean.

He said “the ocean is not only source of oil and gas ,other mineral resources but is used for transport and trade. It supports plant ,fishes and animal lives, and helps in climate change. Its used for recreation and sports. Yets its so severely threatened by actions of men

Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji also thanked the International Maritime Organisation, (IMO) and the UN for its governance

Other special quest speakers were Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, corporate affairs manager, indorama ltd, Solari Inko-Taria, UN focus person on ocean literacy in Nigeria, and Mr Fineface D. Fineface, Executive Director YEAC, An Environmental Activist.
