NDDC Hosts Two-Day Stakeholders Forum to Unlock Niger Delta’s Agricultural Potential

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to harnessing the agricultural potential of the Niger Delta as a pathway to food security and sustainable development.

Speaking at the Two-Day Strategic Stakeholders Forum on Agriculture in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the Managing Director/CEO of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, said the region has the capacity to feed the nation beyond its oil and gas resources.

Dr. Ogbuku emphasized that strengthening agriculture aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the Commission will sustain initiatives that promote agribusiness and rural development.

He added that the forum will pave the way for a Regional Agricultural Summit and the creation of a research-based framework to guide agricultural investment and policy direction in the Niger Delta.

Also speaking, the NDDC Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai, Ph.D, described the region as Nigeria’s next agricultural powerhouse, citing its vast arable land, rich waterways, and resilient population as major assets.

He said the Commission, under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership, is committed to driving a coordinated agricultural transformation through strong partnerships, measurable outcomes, and sustainable practices.

The forum, themed “Unlocking the Agricultural Potentials of the Niger Delta Region,” brought together Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, and Directors of Agriculture from the nine Niger Delta states to develop actionable strategies for growth.

It aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on food security, economic diversification, and value-chain development that will create jobs and improve livelihoods across the region.

NDDC… Making a Difference.
