The Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Samuel Ogbuku, has reflected on the developmental struggles and how it has been a catalyst for the unity of the Niger Delta region.
The NDDC Boss stated this at the Commission Headquarters in Port Harcourt, while addressing the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Eastern zone during a meeting commemorating Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro’s 55th anniversary.
Mr. Samuel Ogbuku reveals that because Deltans have experienced similar development challenges, the region has become more united.
He said, “We all face the same developmental challenges in the Niger Delta region. These challenges have brought us together, thus making all of us one; Ijaws, Itsekiris, Ikwerres, etc, we are all one people in the Niger Delta region.”
“We are going to be our brothers’ keepers and I believe with the way you are celebrating Isaac Boro, others are celebrating with us.”
Furthermore, the MD expresses his high regard for the Ijaw youths and their priorities, and instead of sending a separate delegation, the MD suspends his meeting to visit the youths.
“I had to take out time from the NDDC Management meeting to come and address you people because you are important to me. You cannot come to see me and I delegate someone else to come and address you, I respect you, people.”
