On Thursday 13th April 2023, H.E Maureen Tamuno Ph.D Nigeria High Commissioner to Jamaica, with concurrent accreditation to Belize, Haiti and Dominican Republic, paid a courtesy visit to Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Jamaica.
This visit was necessary to discuss bilateral issues of mutual concern.
Her Excellency Maureen Tamuno informed Honorable Minister of the 53rd Diplomatic Relations between Nigeria and Jamaica coming up on 29th April 2023 stating the activities drawn up to show Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the bilateral relations between both countries, one of the activities mentioned was the concluded visit to Holy Childhood High School on 15th March 2023 as well as the upcoming celebration of Nigeria Day with the Association of Nigerians in Jamaica scheduled to hold on the 13th May 2023.
She also informed Honorable Minister of the pending issues between Nigeria and the Host Ministry, stressing the importance of achieving a milestone as product of our countries cordial relationship for half a century.
In her response, Senator Kamina, reassured her commitment to addressing issues raised and also congratulated the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his success at the just concluded elections in Nigeria.
