As a strategic measure taken at raising awareness among African states about the importance and opportunities associated with the development of Africa’s continental shelf, Nigeria will be hosting the Fourth Sub-regional Workshop on Africa’s Deep Seabed Resources
The workshop which is billed for 5th to 7th of October in Abuja is aimed at also increasing the participation of African indigenous companies in exploration activities undertaken in the international seabed areas,
The workshop is put together by the International Seabed Authority in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the National Boundary Commission and other relevant MDAs.
Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Jamaica H.E. Dr Maureen Tamuno, who will be playing a pivotal role at the event, revealed that she will be taking participants for a field inspection to maritime Academy in Oron.
