Nollywood Actress Angela Okorie Remanded Over Cyberstalking
Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State following her arraignment over alleged cyber-related offences.
Okorie was arrested in Lagos State on Tuesday by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and subsequently transferred to Abuja for prosecution.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the actress was taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC). Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley, a close associate of Okorie, stated that she was charged in court and remanded. Stanley condemned the handling of the case, describing it as “an abuse of power” and called for due legal process.
Industry sources suggest the case may be linked to Okorie’s ongoing feud with fellow actress Mercy Johnson, following controversial allegations Okorie made about Johnson’s health last year.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor Okorie’s representatives had released further details regarding the allegations.
