PHOTOS: IGP Disu visits bomb blast victims at Maiduguri hospital
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu on Tuesday visited victims of Monday’s multiple suicide bombings at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) in Borno State.
The IGP went to the hospital to assess the condition of those injured in the explosions that rocked Maiduguri on Monday evening, March 16, 2026, which killed at least 23 people and injured over 100 others.
The blasts, suspected to have been carried out by suicide bombers, targeted crowded areas including the Monday Market, Post Office Flyover, and the front gate of UMTH during iftar.
After meeting with victims, medical staff and hospital management, IGP Disu directed security agencies to implement tighter security measures across Borno State and other vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks.
The visit demonstrates the police leadership’s commitment to supporting affected families and strengthening counter-terrorism efforts in the Northeast.
