Politics is Simply a Contest of Ideas says Rivers SDP gubernatorial candidate Abe

By Suoyo Ekubo

Ahead of the 2023 Rivers State governorship election the Rivers State SDP governorship candidate Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has described that politics is a contest of what politicians have to offer the people they want to lead.

Abe stated this on Wednesday in Port Harcourt at the 55th birthday celebration of the Rivers APC gubernatorial candidate Arch. Tonye Cole.

Abe Said, “As a people, we must recognize, that the celebration of life which is a free gift of God to humanity, must never be compromised for any reason, not even on the altar of politics.”

“As we all know, Tonye is also a contestant in the election as I am, and that makes politics what it is: ‘simply a contest’. In the spirit of democracy, it is about whom the people chooses and thereafter, the winner must be able to build a community of inclusivity for all to thrive.

“One message I have consistently passed to Rivers people and beyond, is that politics is simply a contest of ideas, that’s why I’ve continued to live by the philosophies I profess, one of which is that we must unlearn the old ways and learn a new way of life; we must do things differently if we must get a different result in our political space, and unarguably, this is pivotal to any development we desire as a people.

Senator Abe who defected from APC to SDP to Clinch the governorship ticket for Social Democratic Party (SDP) said “As politicians and leaders, we must exemplify and reflect the kind of life we desire for our citizens, and this has been a guide to my public conduct.

“Once more, I want to felicitate with my brother and friend, Tonye Cole, on his birthday celebration, praying God to add more years to him in the journey of life,” Abe said.
