Port Harcourt City One Love Bazaar Yard Sale For Education, Medical Intervention trust fund

By Suoyo Ekubo

Port Harcourt City One Love Family on Thursday organized its first ever Bazaar Yard Sale, an auction event held in a bid to raise funds for education and medical outreach efforts for the less privileged in the Niger Delta region.

The Port Harcourt City One Love movement was borne out of the desire to recreate what Port Harcourt used to be – a city known for the spirit of love, peace and harmony. The Port Harcourt City One Love is devoid of political activities, religious division, racism and ethnic cleavages. The Port Harcourt City One Love movement aims to bring back the oneness and unity amongst residents and also serve as a form of helping hand.

Its members include politicians, top Government functionaries, captains of industries, and individuals who schooled, resided, or worked in Port Harcourt through the 50s to the 80s. Together they reminisce their childhood memories that were filled with love, laughter and the concern for each other’s wellbeing which was the over riding spirit in Port Harcourt in the days of yore when they were growing up.

Speaking at the event, the woman leader of the Port Harcourt City One Love Amiediki Emmanuel Georgewill, noted that the event was first of its kind organized by the City One Love Family.

She said, “the Bazaar Yard Sale is to raise funds and create awareness for our medical and education intervention trust fund that was launched a couple of weeks ago. People have donated stuff and all proceeds here will be shared equally to the medical and educational intervention trust fund.”

In his address, the Team lead Ambassador Idaere Gogo Ogan reiterated that the funds will be used to support less privileged students and people who are medically challenged.

He stated that what is important is that every funds realized from this auction is going towards a good cause. He said ‘we are going to go to the poorest of the poor areas in this town and seek out the most indigent of students and people who are medically challenged to support them.”

Over the years, the Port Harcourt City One Love Family has engaged in several outreaches including distribution of foodstuff to indigent people in the state, medical care and education.
