The Circular reads in part,

“Our attention has been drawn to a publication by a blogger dated 15th July, 2023 concerning a patient managed at our facility.

“Mrs. Chigozirim Amadi and her family had been accessing care in our hospitals for many years, with her, having had two previous live caesarean section deliveries in 2018, and 2021. On 13th of July, 2023 morning, she again had an uneventful caesarean section delivery with minimal blood loss of another baby and was wheeled to her post-natal ward. ELEVEN HOURS later, when she was administered her SECOND dose of prescribed intra muscular paracetamol injection on her thigh by a trained nurse, after inspection of the vial, following our protocol. Shortly after which the patient developed sudden respiratory distress and was attended to immediately by a team of medical doctors on duty but the patient developed cardiac arrest and died despite all resuscitative measures and therapy administered. The doctors suspected pulmonary thromboembolism, an uncommon complication of pregnancy and delivery especially after caesarean section.”

“We understand the profound despair of the family, as we also, are grieving with the loss, since she has been part of the Princess hospital family and indeed part of our Thirty-Five (35) years history of providing continues quality medical service.

“We have strongly recommended an AUTOPSY of the body, to ascertain the definitive cause of her death.
