The Acting Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Dr. Tonte Davies, said he is quite impressed with the level of consistency and passion exhibited by the Praetorian Group and SPDC in their quest to partner with the Rivers State government, represented by the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, to build power plant, glass factory in thr new city.
Dr. Davies said this during a review meeting today (20/11/24), at the Authority’s Head office, adding that the partnership would deliver projects that would boost economic development in Rivers State; stressing that the Authority has the capacity to engage with genuine investors willing to partner with the state government in infrastructure development within the Greater Port Harcourt City area.
The Acting Administrator also noted that the ongoing developments in the new city like the 20,000 afrordable housing, the New Port City at Eleme; saying that over 200 hecters of land is available for the golf estate development; stressing that the power plant, when completed, would service all of these developments with 24 hours power. He also stressed that with the power and the glass industry within the New PortCity and other industries coming, Rivers State will return back as the economic hub of the South-South.
Speaking on behalf of Praetorian Group, Mr. Torsten Seebeck said they are willing to partner with the State Government in building a power plant and a glass factory that would boost the economy of the State and create jobs in the State. While on her part, the Shell Gas Nigeria representative, Mrs. Ehizogie Olotu, also expressed a keen interest in investing in the Niger Delta, specially in Rivers State, Port Harcourt, adding that with the Greater Port Harcourt offering the platform, that Shell Gas is ready to support the actualization of that dream of building a gas supply and usage to feed the power plant in the Greater Port Harcourt Area.
