To gradually end the one-city status of Rivers State State, the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara has signed a new agreement to establish a new city in Rivers State.
The agreement is structured as a Public-Private-Partnership’s framework.
It is expected to deliver the New Port City on a one thousand hectares of land in Eleme Local Government Area.
From this New Port City, serving as a nucleus, there will be a network of satellite towns springing up.
The Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) agreement was signed at Government House House in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
It was signed between the Rivers State Government, Rainbow Heritage Group (RHG) and the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA).
Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Dagogo Iboroma, SAN and the Acting Director General of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Dr Tonte Davies signed for the Rivers State Government.
Mr Oliver Biedima, the Group Managing Director (GMD), signed for the Rainbow Heritage Group.
