The Rivers State House of Assembly in its regular sitting today at the Hallowed Chambers, Admin Block, Government House, Port Harcourt successfully screened and confirmed Commissioner-nominees, Mr Ilamu Arugu, Dr. Rowland Obed Whyte, Hon. Dr Sam Anya, Hon. Samuel Eyiba, and Sir Austin Emeka Nnadozie being nominees of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS in a letter addressed to the Speaker, Rt Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo which was read on the floor of the House.
The House also deliberated on two bills being the Rivers State Technical and Training Institute Bill, 2024, which was unanimously passed into law after adopting the Report of the ad-hoc committee, pending the accent of the Governor.

Hon. Goodboy Sokari Goodboy applied for extension of time to enable his adhoc-committee conclude with the Report on the Bill which the Rt. Hon Speaker graciously approved to be concluded in two weeks
In his remark, Mr Speaker commended the sponsors of the Bills, the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Orubienimigha Adolphus Timothy and Leader of the House, Hon Sokari Goodboy Sokari for their thoughtful initiative of the bills.
Mr. Speaker noted the importance of the Rivers State Technical and Training Institute Bill, 2024, noting that the vocation will boost the productivity and potentials of Rivers State Youths for accelerated development, adding that the Bill will cater for the human resources in the state especially now that unemployment is on the rise by providing self-employed opportunities, thereby inspiring improvement in the living standards of Rivers State residents.
Thereafter the House adjourned sitting to Tuesday, August 20th, 2024.
