The Honourable Commissioner of Health Rivers State, Dr Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, has recently paid an unscheduled facility visit to the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board located at the Waterline axis of Port Harcourt.
Her visit is in furtherance of her vision to reposition and deliver quality health services to the people and other residents of Rivers State.
The Honourable Commissioner inspected the Cold Room and other storage facilities, the main administrative building and also used the opportunity to address the Management, Programme Officers, and other categories of Staff of the Board.
Dr Oreh revealed that her visit was partly aimed at familiarising herself with operational structures of the Board as part of the health systems in Rivers State. She also said that the visit was aimed at appreciating the excellent health care delivery services going on at the various primary health care centres across the State, adding that the visit should serve as a motivation to the Management and Staff of the Board. The Commissioner expressed optimism that the Management and Staff of the Board would identify with her vision and core mandate of providing effective, assessible, affordable, comprehensive and continuous health care delivery to Rivers people at all levels from a community perspective.
Conducting the Honourable Commissioner on a facility tour of the Board, the Executive Secretary, Dr Kinikanwo Green, said that the visit was ample proof that Dr Oreh placed much emphasis on primary health care in her Ministry. Dr Green told the Honourable Commissioner that the Management and Staff of the Board had no doubt that she came fully equipped with the capacity and passion to take effective and assessible health care delivery to greater heights in Rivers State.
Dr Green further commended Governor Siminialayi Fubara for appointing such a capable and distinguished physician to head the critical health sector in Rivers State. The Executive Secretary pledged the commitment of the Board to support the vision and mission of the Honourable Commissioner, expressing delight that the Ministry of Health was in the right hands with Dr Oreh’s appointment.
