A former Rivers State governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last primary, Morgan Tom-West, has reportedly sued the party’s candidate, Siminialayi Fubara, and the party before a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

In the suit, Tom-West asked the court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission not to recognise Fubara as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state and to restrain the PDP from presenting and submitting Fubara’s name as the candidate of the party to INEC, insisting that the process through which Fubara emerged was faulty.

The sixty-one-paragraph affidavit presented by counsel for the plaintiff, Ibrahim Idaiye, claimed that PDP announced the name of Fubara as the winner, contrary to the terms and guidelines of the Electoral Act 2022.
