Senator Remi Tinubu Awards Rivers State first lady TB champion award.

The 2024 TB day took a different turn as the first lady of Nigeria organized an event to mark this years event.

During her investiture as the Global and National Stop TB Champion at the State House in Abuja, Senator Oluremi Tinubu emphasized the need for renewed dedication in the fight against tuberculosis, particularly at the state level. She commended the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for its efforts in increasing awareness, leading to significant improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease they termed curable.

To further support the fight against TB, Senator Remi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), made a generous donation of N1 billion.

She also urged wives of state governors, whom she decorated as TB Champions for their respective states, to intensify awareness efforts and ensure that this treatable disease is minimized.

Representing the First Lady of Rivers State, Lady Valerie Fubara, Hon. Tonye Briggs Oniyide received the TB Champions awards on behalf of the first lady of Rivers state.

Hon. Tonye Briggs Oniyide, a former two-time commissioner for culture and tourism, has brought numerous awards and accolades to the state during her tenure through culture and tourism.

She facilitated a partnership between the Africa Film Academy and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism through a landmark agreement which secured Port Harcourt as host city for the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

The event, attended by former First Ladies and wives of former Vice Presidents, aimed to raise awareness and combat tuberculosis across the country.
