A commercial bus conveying traders and their goods from Bayelsa State to Port Harcourt had an accident after the vehicle failured brake and somersaulted into the bush leaving about ten Passengers sustaining severe injures and goods destroyed.
The incident occurred at Oduoha-Emohua junction along the East-West road, on Tuesday 31st October 2023.
In a swift response to an SOS call, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd mobilized the emergency response team of the local government to rescue the accident victims from the somersaulted vehicle.
The local government emergence response team comprising aides of the local government chairman, officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) , Nigerian Police, Civil Defence Corps, as well as the local vigilante evacuated the accident victims from the crashed vehicle and transported them to the primary healthcare centre inside Emohua local government council headquarters, with an express directive from the local government chairman for immediate treatment.
According to Bright Jossy-Elendu, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Emohua LGA, no life was lost in the incident but most of the victims sustained serious injuries and are receiving medical attention at the local government primary healthcare centre.
