RIVERS IS SAFE, SAYS GOV FUBARA

Governor Siminalayi Fubara says reports in sections of the media claiming Rivers State is unsafe are false.

He insists the state is peaceful and open for business and tourism.

At the 6th edition of Python Golf Club 2025, Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Port Harcourt on Sunday he said the large turnout proves the negative media stories are political and exaggerated.

He said many reports about the state are untrue and meant to damage its image.

Governor Fubara said the earlier political turmoil that created a six-month disruption had ended.

He emphasised that peace has since been restored.

The governor praised security agencies for their strong and effective work.

He said visitors enjoyed the event freely and safely with their presence showing Rivers State is safe.

Governor Fubara promised continued support for the tournament and future editions.

He said the state will keep promoting events that attract national and international participation.

Governor Fubara urged participants to share their positive experiences.

He said the government’s goal is to change the narrative and show the state is safe.

Major General Emmanuel Emekah said the peaceful environment encouraged them to host the event.

Chief Ikenna Okafor who sponsored the tournament said he was pleased to host a Governor for the first time in 15 years.

He added that participants from eight African countries attended, showing their confidence in the state.
