Prof. Odu Extols King Jaja’s Contributions to Rivers, Nigeria’s Development
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has described the late King Dandeson Douglas Jaja as a distinguished traditional ruler whose service greatly contributed to the development of Rivers State and Nigeria.
She made the remark on January 21, 2026, during a condolence visit to the late monarch’s residence in GRA, Port Harcourt, alongside members of the Rivers State Boundary Commission.
Prof. Odu, who chairs the Commission, noted that King Jaja served as a Non-Ex-Officio member representing the Rivers South East Senatorial District, actively participating in meetings and offering valuable guidance.
Describing his death as shocking, she said his contributions extended beyond Opobo to the state and nation, adding that the Commission would greatly miss his counsel.
She assured the family of the Commission’s continued support and prayed for strength and comfort, especially for the widow, Queen Prudence Dandeson Douglas Jaja.
In her response, the widow described the late monarch as gentle, humble, and committed to public service, thanking the delegation for their support.
Earlier, King Leslie Nyebuchi Eke presented a condolence letter from the Commission to the family.
