Governor Fubara Presents ₦1.854 Trillion Rivers 2026 Budget, Targets Growth and Infrastructure

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has presented a proposed ₦1.854 trillion budget for the 2026 fiscal year before the Rivers State House of Assembly. Tagged the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” the appropriation bill is designed to drive economic growth, expand infrastructure and improve service delivery across the state.

Presenting the budget, Governor Fubara said the proposal seeks to consolidate his administration’s achievements in road infrastructure, human capital development, security and economic growth despite the challenges facing the state. He added that prudent financial management, transparency and accountability have helped maintain the state fiscal stability.

According to the governor, the proposed budget projects total revenue of ₦1,854,248,734,475.76, representing a 24.49% increase over the adjusted 2025 budget. The expected revenue will come from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), FAAC allocations, derivation funds, grants, loans, asset sales and opening balances.

The 2026 Appropriation Bill will now be considered by the Rivers State House of Assembly before it can be passed into law.
