A Final Farewell to Late Sir Davies Okoro Okarevu KSJI.

The memory of the departed lives on in the hearts of the living. Such is the story of Late Sir Davies Okarevu KSJI, who recently made his transition from this world.

A solemn funeral service in his honour was held at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Port Harcourt, and it was graced by family, friends, colleagues, and associates.

The first reading was taken from the Book of Wisdom 3:1–9 by the parish priest, while the second reading was delivered by his daughter, Ejiroghene, from the Gospel of Matthew 25:31–46. These were followed by the homily and the prayers of the faithful.

In his sermon, the priest admonished the congregation to strengthen their faith in God and to live lives that leave behind enduring legacies that speak even after death.

The service drew a distinguished gathering, including MD/CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku, the former MD/CEO of the NDDC, Ndutimi Alabi, as well as members of management and staff of the NDDC. Also present were old students of Unity School (USOSA), the Port Harcourt City One Love group, and several other associations he was affiliated with.

Sir Davies Okarevu KSJI was born on 12th January 1966 in Benin City, Edo State, to the family of Late Chief Aina Okoro Okarevu of the Urhumarho family, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

A man of many parts, Sir Davies distinguished himself as a renowned journalist and an active politician of the Zikist Movement, where he championed causes of social justice, civic responsibility, and progressive leadership.

Until his passing, he served as a Senior Manager at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), where his contributions to the growth and development of the region earned him respect from colleagues and associates alike.

Beyond his professional and political pursuits, Sir Davies was a Knight of St. John International (KSJI), a testament to his deep faith and commitment to Christian service.

At the reception held at EUI, glowing tributes poured in from members of the Unity School Old Students Association (USOSA), the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Mr. Chinedu Obie Esq., and the MD/CEO of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku. The evening was also marked by a heartfelt musical tribute rendered by Lady IB in his honour.

He is remembered as a dedicated professional, a loyal friend, and a man who lived with conviction, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.
