Aberdeen Royal Mission Honours Odual Kingdom Monarch with Sword of Faith
In a momentous ceremony that bridges cultural heritage and. international diplomacy, His Royal Highness King Temple MacDonald Jamala II (JP), The Monarch and Natural Ruler of Odual Kingdom in Rivers State, Nigeria, was bestowed with prestigious symbols of authority – a sacred Sword of Faith (of Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland, 1306-1329), a Ceremonial mace and a Holy bible by the Aberdeen Royal Mission.
During the ceremony, His Highness King Temple and Princess Mayolein MacDonald were flanked by Hon. Ilamu Jonathan Arugu , Rivers state
Commissioner for social welfare and Rehabilitation, Chief Engr. James Ewa , Rien Corstanje who received a Noble honour from the Odual
Kingdom in 1999 , dignitaries of the Scottish nation, and well-wishers emphasizing the international significance of this cultural exchange.
The ceremony, which took place at Aberdeen, showcased the deep respect for traditional institutions and the growing diplomatic ties between Scotland and Nigeria. Representative of ARM, Joe Ochie said the occasion and presentation of these sacred symbols represents not only
an acknowledgment of HRH King Temple MacDonald Jamala’s leadership but also signifies the honour of Mary Slessor and a symbol of the
unbreakable bond between Aberdeen and Odual Kingdom.
Princess Mayolein MacDonald, whose instrumental role made this historic event possible, demonstrated exceptional dedication in
facilitating this international recognition of her father’s leadership and the Odual Kingdom’s cultural heritage. Her efforts have contributed significantly to highlighting the rich cultural heritage
of Rivers State on an international platform.
Making the presentation, Graham Guyan, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, City of Aberdeen, described The Oola of Odual as a King deserving the honour
and one chosen by God . The Sword of Faith and Mace, symbols of authority and justice, is presented in recognition of HRH King Temple
MacDonald Jamala’s leadership role and his commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering development in his domain. These
sacred instruments represent the trust, authority, and responsibility vested in traditional leadership.
Delighted, The King while thanking the Aberdeen Royal Mission for the honour also gave a stated “The work of the Missionary , Mary Slessor
serves as testament to the power of compassion and her dedication to the welfare of Nigerian communities left an indelible mark on our
shared history. Mary Slessor’s effort in education, healthcare and advocacy for vulnerable groups demonstrated the positive impact one
individual can have when driven by the spirit of service and It is my hope that the spirit of service exemplified by Mary Slessor will inspire new generations to work together across cultures and borders”
The King Concluded by emphasizing the divine orchestration behind this historic recognition and a manifestation of God’s divine plan for Odual Kingdom, Rivers State and Nigeria.
