Abia integrates academics with sports as Polytechnic launches Sports Management programme

The Abia State Government has taken a major step in youth empowerment and sports development through a new partnership with Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, introducing a National Diploma (ND) programme in Sports Management.

The initiative integrates academic learning with sports development, aimed at equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the management of sports-related careers and institutions.

The first batch of students has already been formally matriculated, marking the commencement of the programme and a new phase in the state’s drive to expand opportunities for young people.

Officials say the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote education, talent development, and youth engagement through innovative academic programmes.
