The 630-metre Angiama–Oporoma Bridge project in Bayelsa State has reached a major milestone with 420 metres already concreted and the launching of beams for the final 210 metres now underway.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Moses Teibowei, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work during an inspection visit to the site. He described the bridge as the longest stand-alone bridge ever constructed by a state government in Nigeria, noting that the most challenging phase of construction had been completed.

Teibowei said he had personally supervised both the initial and final beam launchings to ensure strict monitoring and timely delivery of the project. He added that the ambitious infrastructure drive of the state government is aimed at connecting riverine communities to the capital and setting new development benchmarks.

Also speaking, the Project Manager of CCECC, Mr. Peter Pan, assured that the bridge would be completed by the end of December, stating that work would progress faster following the successful launching of the final beams.

The commissioner was accompanied on the inspection by the Director of the Civil Engineering Department, Engr. Apurumelala Cliff-Eribo.
