Bayelsa Celebrates Senator Emmanuel Paulker at 70
Yenagoa, Bayelsa State — It was an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and reflection as friends, family, and political associates gathered in Yenagoa to celebrate the 70th birthday of Distinguished Senator Emmanuel Paulker, a man many described as a model of humility, service, and leadership.
The event, attended by prominent figures from across Nigeria, highlighted Senator Paulker’s remarkable journey from a private businessman to a respected lawmaker and elder statesman whose life and career have inspired many within and beyond Bayelsa State.
Delivering a goodwill message, former Vice Presidential aspirant and former Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, urged Nigeria’s elites to play a greater role in national development by supporting government efforts across all levels.
“Our elites must use their influence and resources to collaborate with government in building communities and the nation at large,” Okowa said in his address.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, described Senator Paulker as an “elder brother and dependable ally,” praising his integrity, loyalty, and long-standing service to the state.
“He is someone I can always turn to. Bayelsa needs more personalities like Senator Paulker selfless leaders who put the people first,” Diri said.
The celebration drew an impressive list of dignitaries, including former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, Governor Douye Diri, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, and His Royal Highness King A.J. Turner, MFR.
Others present were Hon. Chief Ejor Oboko, Member representing Okoama Federal Constituency; Opuda Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Paramount Head of the Oruwari House in Abonnema; Mr. Anthony Elebori, Director-General, Delta State Investment Development Agency (DIDA); and several members of the Delta State House of Assembly.
Guests took turns to pour encomiums on the celebrant, describing him as a man of peace and vision who continues to play a vital role in fostering unity and development in the Niger Delta.
In his closing remarks, Senator Emmanuel Paulker expressed deep gratitude to everyone who attended, saying he was overwhelmed by the level of turnout and love shown to him.
“I am truly amazed by the number of people who came to honour me today,” he said. “May God honour every one of you who showed up to celebrate with me.”
Former President Goodluck Jonathan also felicitated with Senator Paulker, commending his contributions to national development and describing him as “a steadfast leader and bridge-builder whose legacy continues to uplift Bayelsa and Nigeria.
The evening concluded with cultural performances, tributes, and prayers for continued health and strength for the distinguished senator as he marks this milestone age.
